Waterford GAA Announcement re Phase 2 Redevelopment of Azzurri Walsh Park

Waterford GAA County Board is pleased to announce that, as of 2nd April 2026, the Phase 2 redevelopment of Azzurri Walsh Park has formally progressed to the tender stage.

The Tender Notice has now been published, and all tender documentation has been uploaded to the Government’s eTenders platform, where interested contractors are invited to submit proposals for the construction of Phase 2 of the redevelopment of Azzurri Walsh Park.

It is anticipated that, following the completion of the tender process and with the appointment of a successful contractor, a construction start date will be confirmed for later in the Summer after the Waterford Munster Championship Home Games.

This marks a very exciting milestone for Waterford GAA, building on the successful completion of Phase 1 of the Azzurri Walsh Park redevelopment some years ago. Since then, Waterford GAA has worked closely with its Azzurri Walsh Park Redevelopment Oversight Committee and the professional design team —alongside other key stakeholders such as the Waterford GAA County Board and Clubs, the GAA Munster Council, the GAA Central Council and the Department of Sport to carry out the detailed work and planning to progress this significant construction project.

Waterford GAA also wishes to take this opportunity to acknowledge the support of the Government, the Minister for Sport and Waterford Public Representatives for their substantial support and contribution to progress this redevelopment project through the Large Scale Sports Infrastructure Fund which is administered by the Department of Sport.

We are very excited and look forward to construction commencing this Summer. Once completed, this development will serve Waterford GAA patrons, players, and clubs, as well as the wider community, for generations to come.
