We were delighted to have Brian Cuthbert from Bishopstown as our special guest on the day. Brian has done great work as Coaching Officer in his club in recent years and outlined the framework of what has been done, the challenges they have face and the benefits the club has seen in recent years for having improved structures. Brians passion for his club and ability to influence positive changes and developments was clear to see and hear for all in attendance. He certainly gave all present plenty to think about and plenty ideas for clubs to take no matter what size the club is.
Following this we had a number of discussion groups on various aspects of the work done by Club Coaching Officers and how clubs, GDC’s and all stakeholders can work together to develop the players and the club. Many good suggestions came from the discussion groups and will be put into operation as the GDC’s visit clubs over the next 12 months.
Thank you to all Déise Óg staff who worked with clubs to ensure good attendance and met coaching officers on the day for various discussions. Along with the continued support of County Board Officers we will assist clubs in 2026 to further develop their own clubs and put player and coach development at the heart of the club.
