This weekend sees the start of the return to GAA games within West Waterford with a number of fixtures in The Local Bar sponsored Junior B & C hurling Championship. The long awaited commencement will be a welcome distraction for many GAA enthusiasts who eagerly await competitive games.

A Coisti Bainisti meeting was scheduled for last night the 14th of July to discuss guidelines and match regulations outlined by Croke Park and this will then be conveyed to clubs as we all endeavor to return in a safe and controlled manner. Reports of a fourth GAA Club in Cork testing positive for Covid related illness at the weekend is a worrying trend which highlights how important it is for each club continuing implementation of strict protocols.

Details of last night meeting was unavailable before going to print but we hope to have all guidelines for next weeks papers. Please adhere to your clubs directive as we return to action in the meantime.

This Friday evening see Kilgobnet v Melleray in first round of Junior C Hurling in Bohadoon and Stradbally hosts Ardmore in Stradbally in the same grade with both matches being played at 7.30pm. Also this Friday in Junior C Hurling Ballysaggart is the venue as the hosts take on Shamrocks and the final game on Friday evening sees Cappoquin v Clashmore/Kinsalebeg in Cappoquin again with 7.30pm starts.

This Saturday is the start of Junior B hurling within the west with Brickey Rangers taking on Lismore in Bushy Park. Fourmilewater host Tallow in Ballymacarbry and the final game of this weekend takes place in the Dungarvan Club grounds where Dungarvan come up against Abbeyside with all three games scheduled for 2pm.
